Dreams become words
I’ve always been a story writer, but not always a storyteller. Words have had a home in my heart ever since I can remember. I love the way they weave themselves into descriptive passages that take me to different realms like the faerie tale portals of my youth.
These words of my heart don’t always make it to paper, and even less frequently to my lips. They live in me, waiting to be brought to life outside of me; because inside me, they are very much snuggled up and comfy.
After starting James Patterson’s writing class on Masterclass, listening to Patti Callahan Henry, and Lisa See talk about their writing, I decided to try and get some of these words on paper. On July 7, I started writing 500 words a day. In just over a month, I am almost a quarter of the way from my goal of 80,000-85,000 words! As of this morning, I am at 19,191 words, and it feels absolutely amazeballs!!
I plan to share some snippets in the coming months…. But for now, I’m just so happy they’re making it to paper!!
Words get stuck in my throat…
When they do escape, my teeth clamp down on my tongue to prevent their fruition.
They transform into a coppery taste and explode in the form of painful expletives becoming lost between and “ouch” and a “damnnit”!
The moment to speak passes in that split second, and the words build on my heart once again….
